Enable Ultrawideband

Enable ultrawideband in your Mist Location Services deployments.

You can enable ultrawideband (UWB) for your Juniper Mist Location Services deployments.

Mist access points (APs) work in conjunction with ultrawideband tags from third-party vendors. Mist uses SICK (formerly known as Zigpos) tags, and currently supports and adheres to the Fira and Omlox ultrawideband standards.

Prerequisites

  • Ensure your APs are on firmware version 0.15.34994 or later.
  • Ensure AP47s are deployed across the entire site or area where you need UWB coverage. These can be AP47D or AP47E models.
  • Follow standard deployment standards for Mist Location Services deployments. See the topics in the Get Started chapter of this guide.

  • Review your tag vendor's deployment and configuration guidelines on how to place tags, such as how to place tags in relation to APs.

Enable Ultrawideband

  1. From the left menu of the Mist portal, navigate to Organization > Site Configuration, or to Organization > Wireless> Device Profiles.

    If you wish to enable ultrawideband at the device profile, see the below note and skip ahead to step 3.

    Note: It is recommended that you enable ultrawideband at the site-level so that all APs in the site inherit the necessary configuration. All APs in an area where UWB coverage is needed must have UWB enabled. Changes made at the device profile override the site-level configuration.
  2. If enabling at the site-level, select the site where you want UWB enabled, or click Create Site to create a new one.
    1. Then, scroll down to the Location Services section of the page.
  3. Scroll down to the UWB Settings section and select the Enable SICK RTLS checkbox.
  4. Enter the Host Name (the FQDN or IP address of the SICK Coriva location engine) and Port number (0–65535) that you obtained from the third-party tag vendor.

  5. Click Save in the top right corner of the page.
