Dynamic Topology Workflow

This workflow describes the tasks that you need to perform for the dynamic topology feature.

The dynamic topology feature enables you to view the dynamic changes (real-time) in your topology even if the devices are not managed by Juniper Routing Director. You can view the real-time changes on the Topology page (Observability > Network > Topology).

To view real-time changes in your network, do the following:

  1. Establish BGP-LS peering.
    1. Configure BGP-LS on the routers. For more information, see Configuring Topology Acquisition Using BGP-LS.
    2. Login to the Juniper Routing Director GUI, and do the following:

      1. Navigate to the Topology page (Observability > Network > Topology).

      2. On the Topology Menu bar, a vertical bar at the top-right corner of the Topology page, click the Settings icon.

      3. Specify the IP address of the BGP-LS peer and autonomous system (AS) number so that Juniper Routing Director can establish a BGP-LS peering session.

  2. Establish PCEP sessions.
    1. Specify a VIP address either at the time of installing Routing Director or post-installation of the cluster. For more information, see Configure a PCE Server
    2. Configure PCEP on each PE router. For more information, see Configuring PCEP on a PE Router.

You can now view the real-time changes in your network on the Topology page.
