View BGP Received and Advertised Routes

Learn how to use the Show BGP Received Routes and Show BGP Advertised Routes tools to verify BGP route exchange.

View BGP Received Routes

Use the Show BGP Received Routes tool to verify whether the BGP routes are received as expected from a BGP neighbor.

To view received routes:

  1. Navigate to the Routers:Router Name page.
  2. From the Utilities drop-down list, select Testing Tools.
    The Router Testing Tools overlay is displayed.
  3. Click Show BGP Received Routes.
  4. From the Neighbor drop-down list, select the BGP neighbor.
    The Neighbor field is mandatory.
  5. Optional: In the Destination text box, enter a destination prefix to filter the output.
    Destination must be a valid IPv4 network prefix. For example, enter 192.168.1.10/32 to display information for a specific route.
    Note: For BGP neighbors that exchange a large number of routes, use the destination field to filter the output to a specific prefix instead of reviewing the complete list of received routes.
  6. Click Show BGP Received Routes.
    Juniper Routing Assurance displays the routes received from the selected neighbor. If a destination prefix is specified, the output is filtered to display matching routes only.

    Juniper Routing Assurance displays routing information such as number of destinations for which routes are present in the routing table, number of routes (active, hold down, hidden) and so on.

View BGP Advertised Routes

Use the Show BGP Advertised Routes tool to verify whether the routes are advertised to a BGP neighbor and that route propagation is functioning as expected.

To view advertised routes:

  1. Navigate to the Routers:Router Name page.
  2. From the Utilities drop-down list, select Testing Tools.
    The Router Testing Tools overlay is displayed.
  3. Click Show BGP Advertised Routes.
  4. From the Neighbor drop-down list, select the BGP neighbor to which routes are advertised.
    The Neighbor field is mandatory.
  5. Optional: In the Destination text box, enter a destination prefix to filter the output.
