New and Updated Features
This section describes the new and updated features released in HPE Mist Networking Data Center Assurance.
Marvis AI Assistant for Data Center
Network Connectivity Validation with Marvis Minis
Data Center Assurance enables you to validate the connectivity and reachability of the devices and services in your data center network by using Marvis Minis. Marvis Minis verifies network connectivity by simulating traffic between devices, clients, and services across the network.
Marvis Minis are probes that contain test configurations and run periodic checks on your network reachability. You can create these test configurations to simulate traffic flow and assess the service and fabric connectivity in your network. You can then deploy and schedule the test configurations to run hourly or on demand.
The Marvis Minis dashboard displays pass/fail trends and detailed results for each site or organization. These insights help isolate problem areas and enable early detection of performance degradation. The network administrators can use these insights to ensure that critical services remain reachable.

Monitor and Troubleshoot Data Center Events
- Enhancements to Pre-flight Checks for Optical Assurance
- Verify Syslog Streaming Using Pre-flight Checks
- Support for IPv6 Addresses on Data Center Assurance
Enhancements to Pre-flight Checks for Optical Assurance
The pre-flight checks feature has been enhanced to include a test for Optical Assurance Probe. This test verifies whether the following requirements for the Predictive Analytics feature for Optical Interface Health are met:
- the Data Center Director instance is running version 6.1 or higher.
- the Optical Transceivers probe has been instantiated and has streaming enabled on Data Center Director.
- the DC BER Interface Counters probe has been instantiated and has streaming enabled on Data Center Director.
Verify Syslog Streaming Using Pre-flight Checks
The pre-flight check feature has been enhanced by including additional tests to verify whether the syslog messages are streaming from network devices to Apstra Edge.
At the Apstra Edge device level, the pre-flight check verifies whether:
-
the Edge device is receiving syslog messages from network devices on the UDP port 10514.
-
the UDP receive buffer is set to more than 4 MB.
At the blueprints level, the pre-flight check verifies whether the syslog forwarding configlet has been added to the blueprint on DC Director. You can add the syslog forwarding configlet by importing the DCA-Syslog-Streaming feature pack from DC Hub on the blueprint.
These pre-flight checks help ensure that the Apstra Edge device is receiving syslog messages from the network devices to perform root cause analyses (RCA).
Support for IPv6 Addresses on Data Center Assurance
Data Center Assurance supports and receives data from full IPv6 deployments in network fabrics managed by Data Center Director.
While onboarding Apstra Edge devices on Data Center Assurance, you can enter either IPv4 or IPv6 addresses for Apstra, Apstra Flow servers, and vCenter servers. Once the Edge device is adopted and registered, Data Center Assurance begins receiving data from the IPv6 data center fabric.

Assurance
- Enhancements to Predictive Analytics for System Health and Optical Assurance
- Predictive Analytics for Memory Leak Trend Detection
Enhancements to Predictive Analytics for System Health and Optical Assurance
Predictive Analytics aggregates the data it receives from the network in hourly intervals and uses them to train the ML models to predict future values. This provides the training and inference models with ample number of data points to analyze and improve the accuracy of the predictions made.
The ML models have been enhanced to predict outliers that might occur at a time ranging from 1 hour to 30 days from the current time. This early warning helps the network administrators to proactively take actions to prevent network disruption.
Data Center Assurance also allows you to modify the graph to display data aggregated in 1-hour, 12-hour, or 1-day intervals to help you monitor and manage potential issues in the network as per your requirements.
[See Predictions Overview.]
Predictive Analytics for Memory Leak Trend Detection
The Predictive Analytics feature has been enhanced to detect potential memory leaks in the routing engine of a device using an EWMA (Exponential Weighted Moving Average). The feature then raises an outlier by trend for the memory leaks on historical data along with a list of processes running on the routing engine of the device. This helps network administrators to proactively identify processes that might potentially be causing memory leaks and resolve the issue before the memory utilization of the device exceeds the configured threshold.

Network Sustainability Analytics
- Marvis AI Assistant for Sustainability Analysis
- Disable Unused Ports With a Single Click
- Compare Potential and Achieved Energy Savings
Marvis AI Assistant for Sustainability Analysis
Marvis AI Assistant is a conversational interface that enables you to ask questions in natural language and receive quick, contextual, and actionable responses. Marvis can now answer queries related with sustainability and energy savings.
You can now explore sustainability performance across your organization, sites, and devices without manually navigating dashboards and correlating information across multiple views.
You can ask sustainability-related questions, and Marvis retrieves relevant information, presents it in different formats, and helps you explore available metrics and insights. Based on the available sustainability data, Marvis can highlight potential savings opportunities, suggest a phased optimization roadmap, and recommend follow-up questions to help you continue your investigation. It can also generate sustainability reports, executive summaries, visualizations, and downloadable PDF reports directly within the conversation. This provides a simple and efficient way to access, review, and share sustainability information through a single conversational interface.
Use this feature to reduce troubleshooting time and improve sustainability outcomes.
Marvis AI Assistant for sustainability analysis is available only for sustainability-enabled organizations.
Disable Unused Ports With a Single Click
You can now disable unused ports with a single click directly from the Recommendations tab.
Previously, disabling unused ports required manually creating and deploying configlets through Apstra Data Center Director. With this enhancement, you now have the option to apply the recommendation directly from the Data Center Assurance UI.
When you apply the recommendation from the Recommendations tab, the system automatically creates a deployment job and deploys preconfigured configlets through Apstra Data Center Director to disable the selected unused ports on the device. Currently, this feature is supported only for disabling unused ports.
You can monitor the status and progress of these system-initiated deployment jobs in the Recommendation Actions section on the Achieved Energy Savings view, available at both the site and organization levels. This view also provides visibility into the energy savings achieved through applied recommendations and the history of previously applied recommendation actions.
[See Optimize Energy Consumption by Disabling Unused Ports.]
Compare Potential and Achieved Energy Savings
You can now compare potential and achieved energy savings from energy optimization actions across your network.
This enhancement provides visibility into the estimated energy savings possible by applying recommendations and the actual savings realized after those recommendations are applied. By comparing potential and achieved savings, you can better measure the impact of energy optimization efforts and track progress towards your sustainability goals.
You can view and compare potential and achieved energy savings at the device, site, and organization levels. Use this feature to assess energy optimization outcomes across different scopes of your network infrastructure.
Access Data Center Assurance Using API
Access Data Center Information Using REST APIs
Data Center Assurance allows you to use APIs to request information about your data center network. You can use REST APIs with standard HTTP methods from third-party softwares like Postman or CURL to access and integrate Data Center Assurance into existing workflows.
Data Center Assurance supports using REST APIs to access and monitor the following resources in the network infrastructure:
- Sites
- Systems
- Links
- Interfaces
You can send GET HTTP requests to the supported API endpoints on DC Assurance and receive responses in JSON format. The DC Assurance API endpoints allow you to programmatically access, manage, and automate key functions of the platform. It is designed in accordance with REST architectural principles, using standard HTTP methods, status codes, and JSON-based payloads to ensure simplicity, interoperability, and ease of adoption.
