Juniper Optical Product Numbers
Juniper's optical components such as transceivers, cables, and connectors follow a naming convention. Each element in the product name corresponds to a specification. It helps you to better understand and select the appropriate optical component.
The standard format for Juniper Coherent Optics (JCO) is represented by:
[Brand][Speed]—[Form Factor]—[Protocol/Reach]—[Power Class]
For example:
-
JCO400-QDD-ZR-M-HP
-
JCO—Juniper Coherent Optics. All modern Juniper Networks coherent transceivers use this prefix.
-
400—The data rate (100, 400, or 800 Gbps).
-
QDD—QSFP-DD (QSFP28 for 100G coherent). Identifies the form-factor of the transceiver.
-
ZR—Follows the OIF 400ZR standard (typically using CFEC).
-
M—Metro or Multi-haul. Indicates OpenZR+ support and the use of OFEC for longer distances.
-
HP—High Power (often called Bright optics). These have an integrated micro-amplifier.
